If women only want attractive men for good genes why do they have children with ugly and unattractive looking men?

Why don't they just don't have kids at all if no high-quality partner is available?
Why arent their harems like in other animal species? Ugly males or unfit males don't reproduce at all.
Shouldn't that be the case in humans if we assume looks were the only factor in mate selection?
But instead there seems to be real bonds of actual affection in most couples at least for a time.
Like my friend whos girlfriend was actually very sexually attracted to him besides him being ugly.
We have several of people on this forum aswell who fall into this category.

Societal norms. If humans had no sense of consciousness and weren't emotionally developed it would never happen. Being a woman with no kids is 100% frowned upon in society and people think they are outcasts, and plus we all know how important it is for women not to have a bad reputation in their minds
