There won't be 7.8 billion casualties. High hundreds of millions to single digit billion dead at most. New means to combat ICBMs are being made so alot of nuclear bombs will be shot down before they reach and even if all nuclear bombs were capable of hitting where needed there simply aren't enough powerful bombs or a large amount of them required for total destruction.
