Otherwise you will never make it. I actually tried it as a teen but I am just too lazy, tried again years later and just noped after a few days fuck that shit. All famous musicians started when they were 6-15. If you never had any interested at all, don't even bother.

learning an instrument is insanely difficult and requires a shitton of practice, the older you are the harder it gets to learn anything plus if you are working you can't just pick it up when you want and practise

Well, dont compare yourself to those asian tryhards on youtube, but even there I see people who played for 3 years already playing Lone Digger on piano

Guitar might also be easy if you get the concept
And it doesnt take much to learn Contrabass either
You can train how much you want, but if you want to play with friends you dont need to be mechanically top-tier at all but you need to know how it works (playing with others in general) and be confident enough in your skills to make something spontaneous and not play like a robot

True it gets harder to pick a skill the older you get. But it's not impossible. Van Gogh started painting at 27 and he's recognized now as one of the greatest painters. So it's not impossible but definitely harder.
