Yes, we give ourselves a higher value because of a social notion. Speaking rationally nothing has any value. In societal terms, you have value if you contribute to society. The foetus does not contribute to society, if that should answer your question as to how much "value" it has. And, being honest, how much something wants to live is a dumb standard for how much they should live.
