Title. If you are a software developer. Or a person working in the tech sector or even any engineering discipline and your main goal is noneymaxxing and career progression. You are doing yourself a great disservice by not coming to the bay.

California is a dump and stupid expensive yes but you're surrounded by some of the smartest engineers, developers and thinkers in the world. The workload is intense and pace is fast yes but the exposure, the networking, the sheer opportunity to work on things that actually shape the future is unmatched anywhere else. The salaries are also through the roof.

You don't have settle just spending time in the ecosystem is like a huge power boost for your career. Definitely consider moving to the US. You'll make mad money and can retire in your home country after a few years of work. US is the ultimate noneymaxxing country.

Id rather go back to austin. Cali has a big issue for dating, all the liberal whores dont care about software since all guys do it there. Not that im currently looking. But austin was much nicer having lived in both, and its the new silicone valley.

Yo just yesterday i was telling @imontheloose to consider austin since he's an electrical engineer and I agree austin is very underrated place but
ITcel in the Bay is still the final boss level for TC. You'll see FAANG/MANGA offers floating around that make Austin's senior engineer packages look like chum change. Yeah Cali is a bit of dump but it is what it is.

Thats true but for cost of living it isnt much worth it unless you just want a million. Just depends on your goals tbh

To all those who have 2 digit iq

it's the miami of tech world

or AGARTHA of tech world
You should also come to Cali man. Try to come in L-1 visa if possible. H1B is fine but you are at the mercy of your employer which isn't a good situation to be in a place with so many opportunities.

I have a family member who is pursuing IT education currently but I don't think that person is advanced enough to move to a place like US and work there

I would only do it two years for the learning but as well as the networking. No more. You can't be involved in that environment for much longer without losing yourself.

What do you think of Seattle/Redmond (Washington State region). I heard there's a pretty good tech hub there

Seattle, Austin, Chicago all these Cities have great tech infrastructure also. And are arguably better if you want a more balanced life but in absolute terms of compensation, connections, networking and opportunities nothing comes close to the bay.
