It's called a knuckle. Yes you can either bonesmash by punching yourself, hitting with an object like a hammer or by rubbing your knuckles into your bone hard.

When I bonesmash my mandible and cheekbones I punch myself and when I bonesmash orbitals and browridge I use the rubbing method.

They need to develop a machine to do the bonesmashing so equal force is always applied to each side. I don't trust knuckles and hammers to get it right.
