If you could bring back any historical empire (or state) into the modern day which one would you choose?

The way it would work is that everyone living in those territories would act similar to how they were before historically except they’re all modern day people. So for example if you bring back the British empire everyone in the UK would see it as a normal thing but it would still have modern structures etc.

Which one would you bring back? Also if it included your current country then you’d become a citizen of that empire/state.

I’d probably choose the Soviet Union or the Mongol empire.
