High inhibition is a result of being surrounded by others who your subconscious views as potential threats - usually people who you perceive as higher status/more dominant than yourself.

It’s a survival mechanism and you can’t necessarily control it. Only thing you can do is become superior to those who you feel threatened/inferior to in some way.

This explains why people often view those with high inhibition/shy as lower social status.
