like i said there was only 1 good character and that's paul, and when you take the best character out of the narrative it's bad.when he started training with Eris it went downhill (still good) but the final nail in the coffin was the boring isekai adventures looking for people

rudeus's character is widely celebrated for his depth and writing this is also the case with many other characters. the story arcs and world building are also top tier. i think we just have a difference in opinion.

the only reason people say he has depth is cause he's offensive to normies, take that away and it's not that interesting. Also let's take into afact that even as far as Isekai protagnists he didn't have to do shit for good things to happen. 1 rudeus as a character is inherently complex. the entire story is centered around the idea of "redemption" throughout the series you see rudeus completely change as a person to a staggering degree. you have only seen the first season so obviously you wouldnt see this growth however his development is a gold standard on how to write it.

2 Many plot points explained how he is powerful it isnt as simple as "he was born strong" if you ACTUALLY FUCKING WATCHED THE SHOW later into the series there is an in depth analysis into it. moreover he is reincarnated so obviously he would be able to train and get strong thats just realistic if you were reincarnated as a baby who had magic you would be able to deduce "i can get powerful if i train" its obvious. he also had weaknesses such as his fear of the outside that hindered him up until roxy.

his entire first life was filled with hardship as well. a character doesnt need to train 15 hours a day and be a magnanimous spirit for the character to be good. he was stripped and hanged off a school gate for an entire school to see that eventually led into his downward spiral to what he became. and again it doesnt matter if hes a bad person and good things happened the whole premise is that hes a piece of shit and that with a better life in an alternate reality he changed as a person and because a good person.

and again "no 2 year old is gonna think time to train" HE IS REINCARNATED THE WHOLE POINT IS THAT HE IS THE SAME PERSON NOT A TWO YEAR OLD

Rudeus doesn't change which is actually a positive about his character and why he was good. i've seen both seasons and he's just not as Good as Sabaru from Re Zero even though both shows fell off.

2. it's all cause of reincarnation at the end of the day. his entire life wasn't really that bad, His character arc written by the author is literally showing that he had potential to even improve his life in the non reincarnation world but HE pushed others away causing his situation. and about this being a redemption story, why? i stated clearly why it's not that and it's a second chance isekai story.
