Wrong big time. I studymaxxed and tried moneymaxxing my early 20s and I now realise that I should've just got a chick when I was 22 and called it a day. Yeah you can date 20 year olds when you're in your 30s but that is the absolute exception-the average 20 year old has no time for old cels.
This is particularly brutal if, like me, you find young 19-22 years olds extremely attractive and beyond that mediocre.

Yes, plenty of software engineers have degrees in completely unrelated fields or no degree at all and self taught themselves.

Once you get you first job and start climbing the ladder it makes no difference at all whether you have a CS degree.

can be achieved with just getting certified by passing a few exams in your own time
