It's possible to reach $30-40/hr or an equivalent by climbing the corporate ladder, getting a unionized blue job like the electricians, plumbers, steelworkers, railroad workers, OTR trucking, etc. Non union won't pay shit but union will. You can become a nurse apart of a union. Anything in healthcare can you reach that mark. You have to avoid industries like fast food and retail where even if they had a union it wouldn't be enough for them to buy their own apartment. If you work fast food and retail just apply for welfare. You';ll never get enough hours and if you did, you'd still be impoverished.

30k usd is working full time at for $15/hr and still not making enough to move out

At least on welfare you make passive income and work part time instead.
