In our church there's a tradition of beginning and ending the year in the presence of the Lord. Every year my family attends the midnight service on December 31st usually lasts until around 12:30 a.m.
The service also has various programs songs and videos of the church activities that were completed during the year, and acknowledgments of members who finished reading the Bible that year and bible reading plans. There's also a discussion about activities planned for the coming year.
As midnight approaches we all count down together to welcome the new year. After a short prayer we have some snacks, engage in fellowship and leave. That's how my family spends the new year
