After 15th June, I have no more shifts at my current work. 0 hour contract. I'll get to that in a bit
They asked my availability. I told them I was available any date. They gave me no shifts. Then, when I asked about a fixed/"full time" contract, they told me there were none available, but to apply for the 'post room' job on the other side of site. Well, I did, and I've basically got that job if I want it, as it turns out it's utter shit and that's obviously why no one else took it and they "offered" it to me. Well, I'm not taking it. It's barely even security. So that means in 9 days time, I am going to have finished my current shifts, and then I have nothing.
Here's the deal with the 0 hours shit:
- I joined in November. In December they offered me a "full time" (28 hours a week, but fixed hours) contract.
- I accepted. They later told me it wasn't available, despite no one else taking it, and no one covering that position on a fixed contract
- in March, I ask what the deal is. They tell me I might be able do it, but it will have some different hours. I say that's ok. They say they will discuss it at the end of April
- they don't. So in May, I bring it up. That's when I get told there are no fixed positions available until after summer.
- basically what happened is they hired a bunch of new 0 hours people, and for some reason, instead of putting me on that position/rota with a contract, they obviously end up giving all the shifts with those hours to the new starters. What is the point?? They know I want that job. The hours need to be filled. What's the point in getting multiple people to cover those shifts rather than just having someone regularly doing it? Especially when they already offered me that in December... It's just disrespectful
So I'm not taking that post room garbage they tried to force me into. But I need to find something else. I can't not earn any money until September. I was always planning on changing jobs at some point in the next few months anyway, so maybe that time is now. I just don't know what to apply for
