But now when I want to buy my once favourite brand all I see is that they make overpriced, low quality garments but still maintain the premium price tag. They have turned into a designer brand. No different to Gucci, Dior etc

I was too young to ever experience that era of Ralph Lauren, ur completely right tho they run on a logo like other designer brands n nowadays. It’s rinsed in dubai (even though I still wear it) sm ppl have one and have it for the purpose of showing off the logo

That's exactly how I feel going to the car shows in Monterey almost every August. I went for the first time as a teenager and it's never stopped rubbing off on me, always such a people watching experience too, you can learn so much. And not really how I always dress but the aesthetic I love and how I decorate my place has this kinda Monterey vibe. And Ralph Lauren always brings his cars there, they win awards, he's always the star of the show.
