Botulism seriously fucked up my neurotransmitters. The last time I could handle a whole bottle of rum and a beer but yesterday I took a little glycine to give my muscles and nervous system some rest, which put me out for 16 hours straight as if I had a sedative (scary as hell initially) and today I only had a sip of rum and a can of rum + coke mix to unwind and loosen my tongue and I'm more wasted than I was the last time. Inhibitory neurotransmission can be unpredictable when you have iatrogenic botulism. At least I had a low inhib phone call with my mom.

I'm certain gabapentinoids could kill me since botulinum toxin already alters neuronal voltage gated calcium influx. I will refuse any kind of sedation or general anesthesia for cosmetic surgery. Local anesthesia only or I might not wake up again

So you are unable to drink any type of alcohol from now on? It's scary what some botox can do to a person and you can't even sue the doctors who performed the injecting

I hope you get better soon and normies should be more aware of the dangers that botox can bring you, but all I see is that the trend of people getting botox just keeps on rising

Yes I can but my body is reacting unpredictably to many things. It’s just that CNS depressants (alcohol exerts GABAergic effects) can make botulism worse because cholinergic neurotransmission is already impaired. I‘m not drunk anymore but my heart started racing extremely fast and I got the chills after dinner for no apparent reason. My heart rate is still elevated and I have chest pain and a headache. My neurotransmitters are all over the place.

There‘s too little education on the risks and the ways botox works, most doctors even don‘t know about it. I had it multiple times and was fine until my last round of injections 4 1/2 months ago. At the end of the day, it‘s a highly potent neurotoxin with irreversible effects and no matter how experienced your doctor is, it can spread throughout the nervous system and affect areas in your body it wasn‘t even injected into
