I think everyone has a shot. It just takes a bit of time. I've completed 40 different backdrops, voiced multiple of my own characters and done nearly a hundred lines, and now I'm in the beginning stages of animating my pilot episode. I've had no prior education or certification in animation or digital artwork, either. Once the pilot is done, I'm buying a character copyright, brand title, and parent company. Hopefully from there, I'll upload it to a few streaming websites and gain a bit of a following. The age of signing contracts and wasting time working for someone just to maybe one day make it is dead. Everything can be done by you and on your terms nowadays. It's curious how the invention of convenience has only furthered creative decay... if you want to do something, you 100% can in fact do it in 2026.

. I don't have the slightest clue of 2D animation brah. What I can tell OP is that at my previous office most of designers used to work with some kind of wacom tablet and autodesk. Maybe learn that

Learn adobe Illustrator, Autodesk, Photoshop and Figma and you can apply to any IT company's design team. Many of them also have a seperate Animation Team but i assume you want to become an independent animator and own the licenses

At the moment I'm trying to learn node-based compositing, cut-out rigging with deformers and constraints, asset reuse at scale, etc... mostly things I won't be bothered to use as of right now, but I'm almost certain will come in handy if I ever use studio software like TVPaint pro or Toon Boom Harmony. 2D animation is shockingly more difficult than it appears.

I think OP is doing something more advanced than that. I googled the software he mentioned and the stuff he mentioned is used in deep studio grade workflows.

Are you trying to make stick man type illustrations?
I'm trying my hardest to craft a more unique style of 2D animation, or at least a less common style to see. So far it looks like a mix of the Simpsons, Family Guy, and South park, without the permanent oblique angle that those shows are stuck at, so it consists of much higher depth in terms of character movement, angles, expressions, etc. Almost like a Disney cartoon with higher contrast and flatter imaging.

Comedic, simple stuff. Nothing too large at the moment, I've currently got a short punchline animation I'm working on. Around 300 or so frames at 30FPS, runtime should be probably 16-20 seconds.

No character rigs quite yet, I'm currently relying on fully hand drawn frame-by-frame, and it's a hassle. Hopefully going to purchase a license for Harmony or TVPaint in the coming months, or use OpenToonz for rigs. We'll see how it unfolds.

Yeah, they have a cool story. I probably could but I'd rather avoid the potential legal risks and just own a legitimate copy of either software. Thanks, I appreciate it.
