I think lots of people get wowed by the latter and then every piece of new information constantly forces you to update your weak priors. I personally have not seen any research that shows actual results on bone growth that are controlled and aesthetic. That should be the gold standard because so many things work theoretically or in mice but then in humans, gestational differences and interaction effects make it useless or even deleterious

I use mechanistic pathways for predictions, but make my final conclusion off the available data.

If there is no solid study I will go off rat data, mechanistic reasoning and vitro studies
