I like to wear a plain black t shirt, which I can buy a pack of 6 for $23
That paired with some gray/khaki chinos or blue jeans, and that’s a cheap outfit
Reason why I don’t go for black chinos? They fade too quickly, gray and khaki last forever, and jeans look good aged
And luckily, I don’t do this out of financial desperation, I actually look better in a black t shirt than anything
