If the "altruism doesn't exist" idea is just based on the fact we get some satisfaction out of doing the right thing, then I disagree with your semantics. Altruistic people are just those who do good things for the sake of doing good things without a material incentive. In fact it's good if someone gets a psychological benefit out of helping others. Yeah I agree most people don't care, although largely it's just faggots who don't want to express their genuine feelings because they are scared of what other faggots will say about it. But sure to an extent it probably does mean a lot of people genuinely don't care, I don't see any reason for you to then not care as a result.
