First I didn’t eat for 113 hours starting from Sunday night and I started again 42 hours ago. This time, it’s been really easy for me. When I started out, the first 24 hours were the most difficult, along with the following 24 hours, but after that, it had been pretty easy for me. I’m not even hungry at all, and this time I’m not dealing with any headaches. I think those came from dehydration because I wouldn’t drink a lot, I’d just go through the day with one big cup of chai but that’s not good, so now I’ll plan on drinking more than usual. People who fast highly recommend electrolytes as they’re a must-have, but I’ve always done this without that so I will continue doing this in my own way.

Technically speaking, at my weight and height I do not have to fast at all, but I’m skinny-fat, I have no muscles whatsoever (figuratively speaking, of course). I have cursed South Asian fat storing genetics. :feelsbadman:

I'm doing this now as well. As for the electrolytes, I found out about these when I fainted during fasting.

what's your weight and height? :ogre:
I’m anywhere between 178 cm and 181 cm (5’10” - 5’11”) and I weighed ~69 kg (~152 lbs) when I started last Sunday (not yesterday, but the one before that one).

Good luck my friend! How many days are you going for? Yes, electrolytes are a must-have, anyone who fasts will tell you this. I only recently discovered about electrolytes but I do not plan on using them (I’m retarded, don’t be like me). Potassium, magnesium and sodium are what electrolytes are. And how many days or hours were you fasting when you fainted?

I’m too lazy to keep it up, I will just lose motivation one way or the other. And also, gymmaxxing is a bad idea for me because I’ll just become hornier than usual due to raised T levels, and a sexless man like me should not be horny at all.

I used to have success fasting up to 5 days at a time but when I fainted it was on my third day of a planned 1 week fast. I tried again a couple days later and it happened again on the second day. Something changed with my body, I guess I got a little weaker.

Now, I'm planning on doing this for a month with breaks every 3 to 5 days and with electrolytes. I'll take it slow to test the water and make sure that I don't go too long.

True, sometimes I didn't eat for 20 hours and i wasn't hungry at all. I feel most hungry after finishing a meal and i have to wait some hours till it goes away, i'm on a caloric deficit but I don't know the exact reason.

I’m guessing it was the lack of electrolytes that made you feel this way, it’s funny because I’ve been doing this stuff for years and never heard about electrolytes, maybe because I didn’t look for any fasting-related spaces online, so I never got that type of information. Not that it matters, I don’t plan on taking them because I’ve always done it like this. It’s not that you became weaker, it’s just that you became less used to it, you don’t have to give it a negative spin! Anyway, if you’ve introduced electrolytes to your fast then I’m sure you will make it this time around. How do you plan on refeeding? I’m going for some tomato soup.

Right, when ramadan was over I simply couldn’t get into dieting, maybe it was because I was used again to eating a lot. It took some weeks before I was able to get into it again, and it was pretty much a last-minute decision. I didn’t even plan on going for so long as I did, I was only planning for one day but it ended up becoming so that I would break it on day five.

I'm planning on soup as well but mixed vegetables for variety and potentially bits of chicken for protein (I don't want to lose what little I got).

Fasting won't make you look good, you will remain skinnyfat and end up losing the little muscle mass that you do have. I have a similar issue and it's because we're long term rotters and are simply lacking muscle mass on pretty much all over our body. To fix this is quite simple, you do not need to fast, you need to eat clean and a nutritient-dense diet and obviously lift weights and exercise so your body is toned and gets some muscle. Starvemaxxing isn't going to do anything for you except give you malnutrition of some sort. Water fasting is the only acceptable one and even then i wouldn't recommend long ones. You need water + electrolytes, not chaii. The potbelly/skinnyfat mid section is because our abdominals/muscles surrounding it are weak/tight and so our belly protrudes even when we're low weight. I did a few water fasts in 2023 aswell, Autophagy aka the body starts healing itself rapidly around the 72h mark, usually people will do a 72h water fast to repair their gut.

The only way to truly overcome the skinny fat physique is to focus on building muscle while keeping your calories clean, and doing a lot more cardio than you think you need.

Don’t cut your calories to starvation levels. Instead, reduce them slightly while significantly increasing your cardio. This approach is known as a high-energy flux.

In fact, if you can increase your cardio to the point where you're burning more than usual while keeping your calories at maintenance.. Not cutting at all.. you’ll achieve a leaner, more sustainable physique. You also won’t lose muscle, which is a major issue with the skinny fat look, since you don’t have much muscle to begin with.

My recommendation: burn 500 calories through cardio every day by any means necessary, and eat at your maintenance.

We truly do have cursed South Asian fat storing genetics. I know that the best way to tackle is to hit the gym, but I am much too lazy and unmotivated and undisciplined in this regard to actually pull it off. I know if I can put my mind to it that I can do it but I’m not interested, I’d much rather try it this way. I don’t drink water normally so waterfasting is out of the question, that’s why I do drinkfasting, like cups of chai, coke zero, etc. I drink what I want but try to avoid sugar, I’ve got strawberry milk but it contains 52 kcal per 100 ml, absolutely brutal. But yeah, auto-faggy (kek) is another new term I’ve learned, along with electrolytes, though as you know I’m not doing it for these reasons.

Good advice but i'd say lift atleast 2-3x a week aswell right? even just an hour 2-3x a week will do a lot for skinnyfat guys with low muscle mass, the cardio will help tone you up and the lifting will help give more muscle. Wdyt?

I am just as lazy as you if not more. Your way isn't going to work man, already explained that you will just lose even more of the little bit of muscle mass you have and you will STILL be skinnyfat. You will still be skinnyfat because the muscle mass isn't there, infact you will likely look worse since you will lsoe more muscle mass than the little you already have. Astro is right, Cardio 500 calories burnt every day + even gym twice a week will do a lot of benefit to guys in our situation. Don't tell me you can't spare 2 hours in the entire week to walk to your local gym and just train for an hour each time, it's only 2 hours bhai. The 500 calorie burn cardio is very easy aswell, just go for a jog or use the treadmill at the gym. And ofc CLEAN diet. This is the best and prboably the only viable way to escape skinnyfat physique.

Hey Astro, thanks for weighing in! I agree that my approach is not the best and the poster above you gave me the same advice, I appreciate it. I won’t be starvemaxxing after this anymore, but since I’ve already started I may as well finish it, I’m already two days in!

Because I wanted to lose weight in the quickest way possible, but I’ve gotten advice here by Astro and John who both say this is a dogshit method and recommended something better instead.

I mean it's good but cardio alone won't really build any significant amount of muscle, i have a few dumbbells and light weights and even just using them for like 20-30 minutes a day makes an impact. They're cheap too if you buy used on craigslist or whereever. This way you don't even have to go to the gym and can workout in your room.

I don’t think you’re as lazy as me! Have you ever held your pee in for 18 hours simply because you just didn’t want to get out of bed because you were too lazy for it? You are unable to comprehend my levels of laziness! Why did we have to have such cursed fat genetics! All other races don’t need to go to this extent but we? 2 hours a week dedicated to the gym is too much for me. I cannot keep that up. Maybe 30 minutes every month, or something. But that doesn’t do much. What kind of diet would you suggest?
