I'm a year in but math and physics have similar requirements so that is not an issue

I'd love to be able to make contributions to certain fields, but I'm not sure I have what it takes. I don't want to go and just be mediocre

Sounds like a bit of a dilemma there. If you switched to Physics, would it really prevent you from pivoting to finance later if things didn't work out? I know people in finance who transitioned from non-relevant majors.

I have rich parents, money is not a worry
as long as I have a degree they will let me stay in this house free of cost besides taxes
