I really can't see how this can happen, but even If yes or not, still a fact that braces will stop the potential growth In the face.

He has good forward growth tbh. I told him he should wait until like 18 to get the braces so he can squeeze out 2 more years of facial growth before braces and rubber bands.

Just get your parents to set up an appointment with an ortho who does Damon System braces, it's infinitely better. Redpill them on the difference between a dentist and an ortho, tell them it's like getting a GP to do a neurosurgeon's work. They'll see the light.

I suggested you try to find a dentist/orthodontist who doesn't believe in recessing the face to achieve proper malocclusion. And you ignored that and said you were looking into BSSO. Your parents aren't going to pay $50k+ just so your brother can look more aesthetic. BSSO also requires braces before and after 99% of the time

Jfl he is talking to an ortho and will bring up the recession but he NEEDS rubber bands regardless which will recess the upper jaw. I know jaw surgery requires braces.

And jaw surgery won’t be 50k either. We have insurance so it will probably be about 8-10k.

Are maxillo-facial dentists more specialized than orthos? Are they more likely to not ruin your face? The guy that did my braces was a maxillo-facial whatever and took lots of x-rays and pictures and stuff, seemed like he knew what he was doing. Also I'm pretty sure after my whole braces treatment, my palate actually got wider, since he used an archbar on the top, when I compared my before and after pictures.
