The issue is that most men nowadays are chubby asf, even the shorter ones weigh 80+kg so its difficult to manhandle them

Not really, well not in a gym but as teens we would spar each other all the time with gloves and wrestle and do all kinds of stuff like that. We had several friends in our group that did train mma in real gyms and competed as amateurs and they coached the rest of us.
