These people can become financially independent if they get a large inheritance and then put it into stocks or an index fund & live off the interest.

Or if they work for 30-40 years straight and put $1000 into stocks every month non-stop.

Realistically those are the only two options. They aren't going to build a startup and sell it to billionaire angel investor funds or become pro athletes/youtubers. If you weren't born rich and aren't going to get an inheritance, you need to put all your extra money into investments or you will be poor forever.

Maybe 1% of people are also intelligent enough to build a normal (non-startup) business that earns them a comfortable living and never go bankrupt.
But even they are better off investing all the extra income they get from their company into stocks.

Do what old money people do and diversify into the lowest risk stocks you can find (Fortune 500's that have been around for centuries etc). They grow about 6-7% per year on average. Or just an index fund, then your share of the fund will automatically raise in value as the value of the stocks in that index rise.

The only reason I would gamble on cryptocurrencies or tech stocks would be entertainment (I do also invest in tech stocks, but it's not critical money, it's something I'm completely comfortable with losing 100% and my livelihood doesn't depend on it)

I can’t really comment on US salaries, depends which state you live in.

However, my main point is, in order to successfully invest in real estate and stocks you need to have a solid amount of money coming in from a high paying job or successful business. So that should be your main priority before major investing.
