Seems that way because of porn and people always inflating their numbers as well as girls overestimating sizes. If anything it's even smaller because of selection bias in studies.

Oh and dickcels won't respond to the thread so that'll skew perception as well

These comparison sites are massive cope. As for the studies, most also conclude there are no race based differences, which is obviously not true either. True western average is probably like 6.5", and there are plenty of guys out there who're legitimately 9+
