Analysis Of Masculine and Feminine Faces
Basic Differences/ Common Knowledge:
A core difference between masculine and feminine faces is the angularity of the face and protrusion/ thickness of bone structure. Examine the following images for some general insight:
General Comparison of Gender Specific Ideals:
- Men:
- More prominent:
- Cheekbones
- Jaw structure
- Brow ridge
- Slightly smaller forehead than ideal in females
- Square hairline
- Thick, fine, straight hair
- Proportional angular nose
- More prominent:
- Women:
- Traditional attractive features
- Pronounced yet feminine jaw structure
- Round hairline
- Soft, straight hair
- Slightly upturned nose
Skull Shapes/ Gender Specific Profiles:
Skull shapes contribute to a masculine/ feminine profile. If you haven't seen them already watch the linked video's:
Comparison and extra analysis:
- Note that the unattractive faces are extremely similar:
- Big, crooked noses
- No forward growth
- The chin melts into the neck
- Both attractive faces have:
- Forward projecting/ grown:
- Maxilla & midface
- Jaw & submental
- Forehead & brow ridge
- Good proportionality (think bottom two facial thirds)
- Forward projecting/ grown:
- In men only:
- An bad occipital bone can break a profile with any facial recession
- Note the angel skull shape wouldn't make an ugly guy
- The lower part of the occipital bone is connected to the traps
- The profile can be positively changed though growth of this muscle
- An bad occipital bone can break a profile with any facial recession
- In women only:
- A a slightly larger forehead can contribute to a good face to head ratio
- Comparison of attractive male & female skull shapes
- The male has a bigger face to head ratio than the female
- Attractive male profiles have bigger more angular features
- The guy has jaw width visible from the side
- Contributes to extremely tight submental region
Eye Area:
Attractive eyes are made up of the same key components regardless of gender. Building on top of an already attractive foundation there are, however, gender specific ideals.
Male specific ideals:
- Thicker and dense eyebrows
- Dark coloring is of great importance
- More pronounced brow ridge
- Eyebrows straight and horizontal
- Little distance between upper eye boundary & eyebrow
- Hunter like slits ⬇
Female specific ideals:
- Arched eyebrows
- Not of masculine thickness or size
- Eyelashes
Body Fat:
Men and women have different acceptable body fat percentages. Body fat effects men and women in different ways. Because of higher levels of certain hormones, muscle mass, and the greater average size of men a lower body fat is more easily attainable. People with good faces can have a higher body fat percentage while maintaining their facial attractiveness.
Men:
- Ideal body fat percentage between 5-15%
- Core fat distribution in face and torso
- The ideal lower body fat in men contributes to the ideal facial angularity.
- Ideal body fat of 15-25% (debatable)
- Fat distributed primarily to lower body
Unfortunately it is only possible to have 10 images/ files in a single post so there will have to be a part two. This was a good start place to end though. In part two I will talk more about the importance of masculine and feminine features in overall attractiveness. I plan to have it up by the end of next week.
