I'm neutral beacuse I don't think criminal gangs should force people to fight for them, on the other hand Ukraine did provoke russia since 2014 attacking russians in the east of Ukraine. The war is retaliation for that, but anyway I remain neutral and hope for the health and safety of both countries people.

It's Zelenskyy's fault. Poking the bear by oppressing the Russian majority that lives in the region, which was only symbolically given to Ukraine by Stalin when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union anyway. Even still, he had the chance for peace. He should have took it because he's fighting a losing battle and will now probably lose the entire country to Russia. And with the recent attempt on Putin's life he could have easily started World War 3 because had he been successful Russia would have no doubt responded with a nuke.

Nah, fuck Zelenskyy. I support Russia and Putin.

Are you Russian or Ukrainian?

that's not gonna happen but who knows, Russia is a diverse country with many separatist movements among its ethnic minorities

Largely correct.

Crimea was transferred by Khrushchev in 54 and Western polls consistently show they want to be part of Russia.

Eastern Ukraine was formerly part of Russia was transferred by Lenin to the Soviet republic of Ukraine during the formation of the USSR. There’s a large ethnic Russian minority there but they do not constitute more than 30-40% of the population - which is still material. The Kiev Institute on 2014 put support for separation around 30%.

Doesn’t excuse Putin invading another country but Ukraine is waging a losing war unfortunately.

entire country was part of Russia but it was always considered "Malorussia" (Little Russia) which is not the same as "Velikorussia" (Great Russia or Muscovy/modern Russia)

all of these lands were inhabited by Ukrainians/Ruthenians/Malorussians/Cossacks, call them what you want - Moscow didn't give them anything that wasn't theirs (in fact, they stole Kuban' (southern Russia) from them and pretty much erased Cossack identity making them the same as other Russians)

Yes, when Russia was in total disarray during a civil war and after the punitive treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
This fledgling Ukrainian state didn't last more than a few years before it was absorbed into the Soviet Union.
You'll notice that parts of Donbas are absent from your map and were added to the Soviet Republic in 21/22.

I'm not excusing Russian ethnic cleansing; that doesn't change the fact that there are significant self identifying Russian minorities living in Ukraine today.

Crimea was part of the Russian soviet Republic from 21-54 and at least 60% of the population is ethically Russian.
Western pollsters consistently show majorities in favor of remaining part of Russia.
I do not say this as a Russian shill; it's simply a statement of fact.

These map somewhat accurately reflects land changes and ethnic breakdowns:

Unfortunately, the Russians occupy 20% of the country.

The Ukrainians have gone through multiple waves of mobilization and Russia has only called up reservists.

Putin’s risk aversion and reluctance to escalate the conflict are holding Russia back.

most of that territory was already controlled prior to the russian invasion, not to mention they've exerted the majority of their military stockpiles with production lacking behind

you can be pro russia and still admit that the invasion has been a total failure, when an inferior nation manages to strike your military air bases 5000 km from the frontlines it generally means you're losing

No, they are producing 3 times more artillery than US + Europe combined. It’s simply not true that they are exhausting their military stock piles. The same cannot be said of the Europeans.

I’m not Pro Russian. They have held back significantly because of Putin’s risk aversion.

He entered negotiations within days of the invasion when Russia was making rapid progress .

Russia entered a country of 500 million square miles with less than 200K troops. They never intended to invade all of Ukraine in the first place.

The priority was to secure the Donbas and a land bridge to Crimea - which they have largely achieved.

The strikes on military air bases were planned by NATO with US military intelligence and likely green lighted by President Trump himself. This was nominally a Ukrainian Operation - nothing more.

artillery isn't relevant when you're forced to send ww2 era tanks and tractors to the frontlines, they can produce as much artillery as they want but the fact remains they're running out of ifv's and tanks

and they clearly did intend to invade all of ukraine, otherwise they wouldn't have dropped paratroopers over kyiv attempting to make them fully capitulate

Artillery is crucial in modern warfare. Where are you getting this from? I just used artillery as an example of how Russians are mass outproducing the West.

Why wouldn’t they get rid of old obsolete stockpiles instead of letting them gather dust in the middle of a war?
and they clearly did intend to invade all of ukraine, otherwise they wouldn't have dropped paratroopers over kyiv attempting to make them fully capitulate
No, they did not intend to invade an entire country of half a million square miles with just 200K men.

Why did Putin enter into negotiations within days of invading?

The Russians hoped a military presence in Kyiv would strong arm the Ukrainians into singing an agreement ceding Donbas and abandoning NATO aspirations. The gambit failed.
