I see where they're going with this.

The current robot models aren't realistic, yet. For the time being, they could create AI avatars (or deepfakes of real people) and sync the robot with the avatar. Using a headset like Apple Bug Eyes, you'll see the realistic avatar. When the robot engages in physical contact with you, it will evoke the sensation of a real person, thus the avatar. The headphones let you hear the avatar's voice when she speaks. However, upon removing the headset, one may observe that the object is a robotic device, with its lips oscillating and contracting, yet exhibiting no sound.

To successfully manipulate the human perception, the robot would need to be perfectly in sync with the skeleton of the avatar. From head, nose, lips, chin, neck, torso, and so forth. When the robot touches your face, the avatar is touching you at exactly the right moment.

Perhaps, the robot's neck could have perfume dispensers. It'll release a little from time to time, thus illustrating a woman's odor. Or "other" dispensers, thus illustrating if she has a neglected yeast infection or untreated foot fungus.

Maybe the avatar hasn't brushed her imaginary teeth, so there's a fragrance dispenser inside her mouth that'll release the bad breath odor. "Oh, honey bunny, your breath smells like day-old cum." Reminds me of how I see this world. My eyes see what this reality wants it to see. For all I know, we all might be SOMETHING ELSE and not the human forms our eyes perceive. Perhaps, animals see who we really are. We might be red creatures. The flesh we see might be the AI avatars our embedded Eyes perceive.
