This is how anime/manga was before covid.

I had to talk about weekly chapter drops with my buddy in class in HS back in 2011 like we were dealing drugs
 
it's not even an incel trait, normies are mostly just sheep drones so they won't like anything until it becomes popular because then they'll know it's ok to like it. They operate based on fear of social rejection, this is why they're so particular about certain faggot soyciety behavioural rules also

For me its beyond just nerdy shows that become popular though. Like for example I was trying to tell my mom how cool The Lighthouse and a24 films arer and she shrugged it off, if my brother told her to watch them shed watch it
