Incel means “involuntarily celibate”. The vast majority of men calling themselves incels could get laid if they put forth sufficient effort.

I was involuntarily celibate for a number of years (ie. couldn’t get laid) though I would never label myself as incel....but I changed myself, my attitudes, body, dress, habits, etc. sufficiently to have a very successful dating life. But it’s hard work, and most supposed “incels” haven’t made anywhere close to enough effort to change their lives to have the lives they want. Instead it’s easier to put a label on yourself and blame others.

That said, there is probably 1% of the population with horrible enough physical aspects that they repulse women eg. terrible burn victims. But these men are in the extreme minority.
