I've always literally thought this. I rather be an unknown minority that no bad OR good stereotypes exist for, than a minority thats known, but is only mostly know for bad stereotypes.

Let me tell you my thoughts on my groups situation.

Northeast asians and SEA get grouped into one racial group annoyingly.
Even tho there's tons of differences including height, facial features, skin color and etc. (And the amount of white worship, I hate when cumskins tag me in threads with ugly ass flilipinas with whites, I couldn't care less about SEA)

There has always been negative stereotypes for decades, but there always has been a balance. Westerners have always though east asian culture and people have a cool shit. The origin of the stereotypes comes from yellow Peril.
