Northwesterners, sure. But they make up a tiny minority of the population. Punjabis make up 2% of the population.

Skin color in South Asia is all over the place. There's a general trend where people get darker the more south you go, but there's more variation within a population in India than between populations.

This woman is Dravidian South Indian from literally almost as far south as you can go in India.

This guy is Indo-Aryan Punjabi from northwest of the country.

I'd say Medium Brown is probably average for north India and Brown is probably the average for South India.

Also this is cope. Very few Indians pass as Italian, but a decent number of Italians could pass as Indian.

The overlap between Indians and Arabs/Persians/Afghans is much larger tbh.
