undoubtedly the world's most important metals are gold, silver, and copper.
gold is basically found on every continent except antarctica, silver also everywhere but most of the makeup in the americas, with a lot in russia as well.
now copper is the most interesting metal.
65% of all copper mined -- found in just 5 countries.
the united states, mexico, chile, australia, and peru.
these 5 are so rich in copper, especially the US and Chile. Most of the mining companies in Chile are subsidaries of American firms, so practically speaking, the US can single handedly mass control the movement of all good and services, through way of stopping or increasing copper mining activity.
one interesting odd man from the countries and places where copper is found is -- Indonesia. And it is a place called Grasberg mine. this mine is very special because its not really in any of the "urbanized" islands of indonesia, nor is it just only copper.
this Grasberg mine has both Copper AND gold reserves.
and this mine is currently not used. at least not yet.
however we are soon reaching a time period where we see a rapid increase in expansion of western funding into south east asia as a potential market for jobs and for consumer market goods.
such rapid development requires a lot of electrical engineering and electronic engineering tech. as a result of which, the indonesian government WILL have to open up the mine for use and once it does, billions are gonna be lobbied to control indonesian politicians to make the mines accessible by third party companies. we can expect rapid growth of the indonesian economy from this and as a result, a lot of land price increase.
