1 year out from surgery, and promised some frens here a proper conclusion... 7mm genioplasty, and tricalcium phosphate infraorbital implants - 4mm at max anterior projection, and some small adjustment to my lower lip.
Movements bp by normie standards but pretty conservative on here. will take out plates next month, so afterwards I'll be pure bone, no exogenous materials in my face,
Before
After
In retrospect probably should have done double jaw surgery to advance the upper maxilla, but ya know I have a demanding career and wanted a short recovery schedule. My posterior nasal spine, lip position and width, and nasiolabial folds are still pretty far from ideal.
Hard to capture on camera, but the cheekbones in the 3/4 view do pop in person which is cool, I had zero ogee curve before.
Final thoughts and recs for anyone considering this stuff:
- the technical elements on the cutting edge of craniofacial surgery are pretty cool. JFL at getting silicone implants. PEEK should be your minimum, and if interested in biocompatibility as I am, go with HA/PhCa implants for a full bone remolding.
- I think the ideal is still distraction osteogenesis but unf. these surgeons won't operate on 12 year old kids.
- swelling in the cheeks was brutal. It took 3 months to look semi-normal.
- No risk, no story!
- Potentially going to do the full djs + jaw angles, but finna wait at least another year for that one. Other procedures at this point seem marginal.
- I haven't done any fat grafts, but afting seeing some of those results, may go max dorian gray and perfect my eye area.
