Is darkness in the inner eye area, due to the same problems and fixed by the same methods as under eye darkness? Or is this caused by a different problem.

It can be caused by a majority of problems, the main one being genetics. From what I have gathered by the pictures you sent, You're currently describing an indentation on your medial canthus therefore leading to darkness. The darkness could POSSIBLY be fixed by Niacinamide or topical serums containing ascorbic acid if its pigmentation related in your case. Although you could fraud with makeup.
