Imagine evolving for thousands if not millions of years and spending so much resources to recognising faces but still not being able to put correct features on the right faces

How weird is that though when you think of it, if your brain cannot recognise faces or think that facial features are out of place it automatically triggers a fear/disgust response, just like when it sees ugly deformed faces that is way out of the norm.
