Stop talking to other people. Don’t try to reinforce your self image by asking other people what they think of you.
Remember Sartre’s comment, “Hell is other people”. So lay low and be very, very quiet when around them.
When you want to lower yourself in your own estimation, turn to the people.
If you say the slightest thing good about yourself, you will be put down by someone. This will usually have a snarky tone and everyone will laugh at your expense.
I’m 70 now and have learned this truth the hardest way. I’m only saying this because writing is safer than talking. Also, I believe many of you here on Quora can handle the truth.
