These influencers understand it on an instinctive level and are very good at leveraging their good genetics into a source of income (money, marketing deals, affiliate marketing).

You don't get any benefit from associating with low value objects or people.
But your brain automatically releases feel-good hormones when it sees something of value like a good looking person, a fine artwork, a beautiful sports car etc.

There are some hobbyist instas, that do get hundreds of thousands of likes per post with no people in the photos.
But these people are at the top of their craft, making very beautiful metal, glass or painted objects. There isn't much middle ground; The best in a craft gets 99% of the likes and the amateurs get practically zero (between 0 to 500 per post).
