WAIT i have to let all of you know i copy and pasted this from another forum, the reason i did this was because well, i wrote this thread there and i can do what i want with my writing. Anyway i thought this was a good enough thread so i decided to bring it here. I slightly edited this

if your curious yourself as to where i found this data it is from this paper (Chess in Mental Health: Therapeutic Potential and Neurocognitive Mechanisms—A Systematic Review) written by the Medicine Bulletin. Every thing said in this thread can be found over there. So this thread will mainly be dedicated i guess to speaking about it (and summarizing parts of it.)

COGNATIVE OUTCOMES AND IMPROVEMENTS

''In addition to clinical outcomes, some studies examined the use of chess to promote healthy behaviors and emotional well‐being, reporting improvements in mood and depressive symptoms''
Proof of claim:
(i did this on my own, if that matters)
The Medical Xpress states that
''The results suggest that the training could help strengthen cognitive functions and subjective well-being during rehabilitation.

In addition, the group training fostered communication and social interaction during rehabilitation. Participants evaluated the intervention positively throughout. Their willingness to recommend the intervention to a friend increased significantly over the course of the study and remained at that higher level even three months after the intervention
.''
This is due to the fact that they underwent a structed training program and the sorts. Its important note (on a side note) that chess can bring about depression when you fail to win a match but it can also be used therapeutically as well. So keep that in mind. Note this isnt a given (that you'll be depressed of course)

''These included increased self‐confidence and self‐esteem in a student with academic difficulties, as well as a reduction in panic symptoms in an individual experiencing complicated grief''

Chess can also be found to improve ADHD in some cases, apologies for this being a short thread im sleepy but i do hope this persuaded you into reading the paper.

thank you for reading
