Again, for this situation, it depends on what you mean by "easier." Yeah, getting rejected sucks. I know, I've been there plenty (as you mentioned, this seems to be changing and women are doing plenty of asking out, like I do). But I know lots of women who have been threatened, or actually hurt by men who they rejected. And there are frequently stories in the news about women who are murdered because they rejected someone. So...what do you mean by easier? More passive? More dangerous?
So sure, you have more people approach you, especially if you are good looking (if you are fat, or over 35, this changes dramatically), but it's not easier.

This is what gives rise to the classic dynamic. Men approach, and women screen carefully to make sure that 1) you're not a violent psychopath, and 2) you're actually someone they want to date.

This has only been my experience, but while attractive women may receive more initial interest, it is ultimately up to the guy as to whether he wants to "settle down" (or just have a relationship of any length lol). I'm a female in my early 20s and almost all of my girl friends end up tip-toeing around their own emotions in order to not "scare off" their boyfriend, (because they scare easily). Women may have more upfront options, but a lot of hurt and fear while trying to play their cards right to "keep his interest." I've even tried 30 year olds in search of more maturity and sureness, but alas have been let down

However, dating is multifaceted. While women get more matches, they are also get matched with more crazy people. In the country where I live, women are a lot more likely to get raped than men. Roofied and all that jazz. So yes, being a woman in the dating world has its perks, but it also has its downsides.

These women are cowering in fear over potential serial killers or w/e while actual serial killers are, as you said, flooded in love letters - and in such a way that is unexplainable based on PSL alone. I remember reading a story once about a woman who had cheated on her boyfriend. She had sent numerous letters to the man she cheated on him with claiming she loved him and wanted to run away with him etc. etc. When the man later turned her down, she went to the police and claimed she had been raped. The police then brought in the man, and he responded by giving them the letters. When they displayed the letters to the woman she apparently broke down crying and said she couldn't believe what she was reading and that she had "no memory of writing these" and "I can't believe I wrote this".
