The supposed point of the laws is because the state supposedly wall wants to protect minors. However, they should only care about minors of their own country. They shouldn’t care about others. In fact, it actually is counterintuitive. If you have people who want sex with the underaged, it’s best for a country for those people to go to another country, participate in their vices, and come back and be law abiding citizens. By creating international jurisdiction laws, those people have no incentive to go abroad in order to get away with it, so if they do decide to go that route, they will commit it in their own country.

That’s not what grooming is. Grooming is what happens when you intend to commit a sexual offense.

The age of consent means the age of consent for sex, not non-sexual relationships. There is no victim there because the younger party isn’t pressured into any sexual activity before they are deemed able to consent. They make the decision when they are of legal age.
