These math and science competitions - the olympiads, are actually a communist invention, just a way to promote themselves and brag how their kids are smarter than those from the corrupt decadent western world, they were very popular in Russia, Eastern Europe, China, etc. but no one gave a shit about them in the west, that's why it's mostly the immigrants from western countries who go to them.
They used to be pretty popular in Romania too, many Romanian kids and teens won them, and they were treated like minor celebrities, the media predicted for them an amazing future, and how these kids are gonna change the world and become rich and famous, the next Bill Gates' or something, but most of them didn't achieve much later in life.

The type of guys who go to these competitions seem to be mostly nerds, good at memorizing stuff, but without much creativity, ambition or willingness to take risks. Many of them eventually went to work to big companies like Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc., as programmers or specialists, but very few actually went their own way by starting businesses, creating companies or inventing new stuff...

You are SO WRONG man. Do you even realize what it takes to win the Maths olympiad?

This is not some bullshit online IQ test where you get 150 IQ and brag later. Math requires REAL intelligence. People who participate in these competitions have INSANE abstract thinking skills, as well as creativity: it is impossible to solve those Olympiad tasks without non-standard approaches to the problem.
