Could training your massaters muscles make your gonions appear less inwards?
 
no. They might make your face appear rounder they will make your zygos look relatively smaller.

Does it depend on anything? Like does it work for some face shapes and for some it doesnt?
 
don't strengthen your masseters if you have a long ramus + inward gonions + wide zygos.

Training the masseter can increase your bigonial width, but it cant change the actual shape of the jawbone or gonial flare since that is fully determined by the masseter and medial pterygoid attachments and mandible growth pattern.
