I think it is different in USA, italy, australia where people are more extroverted etc, but in my country people just walk around in their bubble.

Brits are literally 50/50 I heard from people who lived in Sweden that Scandi land is horrible depressive shithole for socialising, you cannot play music loudly or you’ll get complaints, people are very autistic like East Asians. My country is like that too (Canada) and I kind of love it tbh. I like not being bothered by strangers in public when I'm just trying to get groceries or run errands (then again, I am very introverted with social anxiety and poor social skills).

If someone needs help with directions or something, I don't mind and I'll try to help them (I've needed help in the past and strangers have graciously helped me so I try to pay it forward), but other than that I hate small talk with strangers. It's so awkward and uncomfortable and forced and there's no easy out, especially if it's at a bus stop or something where the other person essentially knows I'm trapped there until the bus comes.

90% of the time the only people who start random convos with me are either asking for money or they look homeless or have a drug problem or something (I feel bad for them though so I try to be nice). The other 10% is usually a cool and friendly old guy or something.

Hmm... Personally, I've visited the USA many times and I've noticed people were much more likely to strike up a conversation with strangers and were more friendly in general in the USA compared to Canada where people tend to keep to themselves more.
