If there's an option to get the RAW file, do that, transfer it to your computer, and then edit the image yourself. Modern phones do a ton of crazy image processing to get to the final image you see, because their sensors are limited by size, so you can only get so much detail (though they've gotten much better). I've noticed with photos taken on iphones they're usually really oversaturated.

He can see his own skin on his arms, and it really should not vary hugely mirror to mirror unless they're bad mirrors. I'd trust he knows his skin tone, unless he's a coping ethnic, but I'd imagine he's white, since his complaint is excess paleness.
