We could get deep into discussions if one's current IQ can be improved upon or not. But I don't think it would really matter. The most important factor for success in an intellectually challenging field is a lot of quality practice. A few good reads on this: Peak (by Anders Ericsson), Mastery (by Robert Greene), Deep Work, So Good They Can't Ignore You (the two latter by Cal Newport)

You kinda have to get prepped in hs and before if you want to do very good at uni, or you got to be high IQ. It's either more work than your peers or more IQ, it's going to be hard to cram the work once you actually started the courses.
Caffeine, amphetamines, maybe modafinil, could help. Exercise and 8-9 hours of sleep is pretty much the golden rule for peak performance.
