Just a shower thought, wanted to write it out and see what others think.
Artificial General Intelligence will popularize the blackpill. It'll be adopted by the majority of people, and that has terrible implications on society.
The prospect of AGI in the next decade is a serious problem considered by many top computer scientists. It is not ridiculous. To see how, and the other problems it might make, ai2027 is an easy read for a near-worse-case forecast. I will take it as a given, I'm not on this forum to argue about whether AGI will come or not. I wanted to talk mostly about the issue of the post-scarcity society inevitably introduced by AGI, meaning: No jobs, but no need to work too, ridiculously high Universal Basic Income (UBI) from an AI-powered economy (like arabs with no taxes from oil but on steroids).
The problems are:
1. Hypergamy will persist
This is pretty obvious. I don't think there is any reason to believe that in a post-scarcity society, women are suddenly willing to date lower status men. Even if they do, it typically fails.
2. AGI will make us a post-scarcity society
Any remote job, and many physical jobs, will likely be replaced by AGI. UBI is really the only fix to the problem, otherwise society will likely suffer greatly and fail. The introduction of UBI, and no jobs will suddenly bring most men to a level playing-field financially, and perhaps more important, most women level to most men-- the issue is two-fold, inter-gender and intra-gender:
As a result, less men will qualify for women's standards. More men will feel lonely and wronged, and eventually adopt black pill thinking, so much so it becomes almost extremely common, far more than it is even now. Most men are forced to be made aware of lookism as dating becomes difficult
4. AGI will democratize knowledge and ability to improve looks
People already are resorting to AI to make decisions on their looks, most guides on this website is AI slop. That will only improve with time. Access to scientific literature is already being democratized by AI research engines. Eventually, what was knowledge buried deep in forums or barred by a medical degree is one prompt away. Another aspect is also in ability: UBI will be substantial from an automated economy of billions of automated workers, so most people will now have much easier financial access to steroids, RCs, peptides, other injectables and drugs, and surgeries. This, however, isn't a good thing.
5. Absolute gains massive, Relative gains zero.
This point remains reliant on the idea the black pill and looksmaxxing becomes common: if everyone improves, no one improves. Relative differences would not change by much if everyone adopts the black pill. The number of people more attractive than you won't change because everyone is changing. If there was not a reason to choose you before, there's not a reason to choose you still. Of course, this assumes that everyone improves looks at the same rate. If you went to more extreme methods, then you might gain relatively, only at the cost of the risks you take. Looksmaxxing becomes a tax, you can't get ahead, but you don't want to be left behind. It doesn't lead anywhere anymore.

The average man will be better looking and more alone.
