Ask chatgpt if turks are white
The question of whether Turks are considered "white" is a complex and controversial issue. The classification of race and ethnicity is a social construct that varies across time, place, and culture.

Historically, the people who lived in what is now modern-day Turkey were a diverse group of ethnicities, including Greeks, Armenians, Kurds, and others. The modern Turkish state was founded in the 1920s after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, and its population is predominantly Turkish, which is considered a Central Asian ethnicity.

In terms of physical appearance, people of Turkish descent can have a range of physical features, including light or dark skin, straight or curly hair, and various eye colors. Thus, it is difficult to make a generalization about the appearance of Turkish people as a whole.

In contemporary Western contexts, the term "white" is often used to refer to people of European descent. However, this is not a universally accepted definition, and the boundaries of whiteness have been contested and have evolved over time. Some people of Turkish descent may identify as white, while others may not. Ultimately, the question of whether Turks are considered "white" is a matter of interpretation and perception, rather than a fixed or objective reality.

Sounds like a coping mehmet

But seriously Turks from the west coast look white enough. Eastern ones are Arabic looking though

Turks are not white, even a pale blue eye blonde hair turk is considered darker than the swarthiest Greek alive.

White=European

Turks are not European, therefore not white

Turkey is not apart of Europe lmao, are you srs trying to debate this rn? Only 3 provinces are in Europe proper with istanbul being split between west Asia and Europe. Unless you're family has been from those 3 provinces going back centuries, you are not European lmao.

Like 15% of Turks were just European Muslims that got genocided or ethnically cleansed during the last Russo Turkish war and the Balkan wars in the early 20th century

Geographically much of turkey isn’t in Europe tho

Most Turks are more similar to Iranians and Syrian

Calling Turkey not part of Europe but Asia is technically giga correct cause Asia was originally a term the greeks gave for Anatolia, later called Asia minor after Alexander conquered the Persian Empire.

But Europe and Asia were/"are" purely geographic ideas, when greek writters refered to Asia and Europe they described the greek people who lived in these places like the Aeolian (modern Greece) and Ionian (Anatolia) greeks. Still same people.

Turks aren't seen as non white because of "hew hew hew akchualy 97% Asia :geek:" as a reason, but simply because of Islamic religion and the whole history of that religion associated with turks. In fact post 15th century arab/saracen had fallen out of use as a stereotyped nomenclature for a muslim person, whereas "turk" took its place as a generic term for any muslim.

If Osman became christian but still did the same Ottoman Empire thing, christianizing Anatolia etc. Turks would be seen similarly to Hungarians today, christian but non indo european speaking people who came to Europe in the 10th century.

More like 20-25%

If i had to compile a list of top 50 historical myths, then the whole "Bosnia and Albania only muslim places" would be one of them. In reality there were shitloads of native balkan muslims in Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece etc. Ottoman history is my main past time hobby, but here is just a glimpse of how muslim the Balkans were originally in the 19th century.
Balkans1877popC

Modern Bulgaria for example was literally 50% muslim, and other parts were 30-40% on average as well. Belgrade the current capital of Serbia was originally 80% muslim in the 19th century (2 decades before the map above, when Serbia was still an Ottoman vassal before 1860).

I have more relatives in Turkey then i have in the Balkans jfl

A lot of them like in Bulgaria and Greece were just Anatolian settlers that barely interacted with the Greeks. And were ethnic west Asians not European Balkaners

They weren't anatolian settlers lmao, they were actually the most pure turkic tribes, called "Yöruks", in general turkic tribes always settled the most west as possible, typical trait of nomadic people. Turkic people looked turbo aryan originally before mixing with anatolians, here is for example one of the villages in the Balkans with these pure turkic nomads

Not really suprising considering pure turks were R1 haplogroup moggers

But majority in Bulgaria werent turkic people or anatolians, they were Pomaks, bulgarian muslims. Same for Greece, its just that they didnt have a original identity to rally on like Bosnians did with Bosnia, so they were called turks. Good proof of this is if you look at south Serbia on the map i showed you, there were miniscule recorded settlers there, yet 35% muslims, all serbs that got kicked out to Anatolia after the Balkan wars

are people really posting wiki/google screenshots to validate their claims here?

they have some ties to asia/middle east due to their geo position and islam, but that's about it. if russia is considered an european country, turkey is as european as the uk

Two fucking words:
1. Constantinople
2. Iustinianus

Russia is not considered a "whole European" country though lmao. There's a "European" Russia, and a "Asian" Russia. So yes, a MAJORITY of turks are not Europeans or white.
