I have a 8 teeth smile so my palate is narrow, i have 2 teeth that wont fit in properly, next to my canines

And i was wondering if it was my fault or if it was genetics that caused it?

@Zeekie Your high iq do you mind explaning? Its fine if you dont
Yeah, technically the width of your palate has a genetic factor, but I'd argue that your environment and oral habits do most of the job when it comes to it's development. So if you didn't practice oral habits, a narrow palate is partially or mostly your fault :(

both obviously, its very hard to find a field where genetics dont play a role, its probably inherited jaw structure and envoirmental factors

So what habits do cause a narrow palate?

mewing bro :lul::lul: No but unironically, your resting tongue posture, improper swallowing pattern, mouth breathing, bad posture, all of those things put your body in an unfavorable position for facial development, contributing to a narrower palate. This is much more important in your growing years, let's say 0 to 14, beyond that point it starts to become increasingly less important because most of your facial structure is already cemented. Changes can be made between the ages of 14-18, but they're going to be small at best

I think there's no harm in doing it, quite the opposite. In the worst case you get no results, but in the best you may see some facial improvements

May you mind explaining if i do get facial improvements, what would they be? More maxilla and mandible projection? Wider maxilla/palate?

So yes, theoretically fixing your oral habits at this point could lead to a slightly better projected maxilla and mandible. I however do not think major palatal expansion is possible without orthodontic assistance, at 15 you're nearing the point where your palatal sutures are starting to close, if they aren't already, so in that regard I would not expect much.

So projected mandible: yes

Wider palate: no
