NZ has a brain drain issue so both left and right govts support immigration to fill skill issues, it is actually more popular in the opinion of right wing buisness / corporate types. Only the centrist NZ First party is against high immigration though our current left wing govt did promise to reduce the amount of migration to NZ when elected in 2017.
